Helping Your Employees Through The COVID-19 Crisis

During times of stress and crisis, your employees, including furloughed employees, might be at more risk than usual to fraud. In fact, the FBI has reported a rise in Coronavirus-related scams designed to trick victims into giving up money, personal information, or financial information. Cyber criminals are exploiting the COVID-19 pandemic at alarming rates through activities like phishing attacks via text, stealing IRS refund and stimulus checks, and hacking unsecured home WiFi networks. These criminal activities are wreaking havoc and putting your employees at risk for cyberattacks that can lead to catastrophic outcomes.

Technology makes it easier than ever to work and learn remotely. However, using personal devices and unsecured connections for work, or a child’s education, also makes you more vulnerable to cyber threats. We understand your employees are dealing with a lot right now both personally and professionally. Your business and your employees have enough to worry about. Identity Theft doesn’t have to be one of them.

EPIC’s National Voluntary Benefits Practice has teamed up with industry-leading Identity Theft partners to offer Complimentary Identity Theft Protection to your employees through the end of 2020. The offer is being extended to new clients only. If you already offer an Identity Theft Protection plan, you may want to check with your provider about open enrollment.

We are also recommending that clients who don’t already offer prepaid legal coverage, consider allowing employees to enroll in this benefit. These plans can be used to:

  • Create or update healthcare directives, powers of attorney, wills and trusts
  • Create guardianship documents in case of a health emergency
  • Assist with lender or landlord-tenant disputes
  • Assist with financial transactions which are affected by a loss of employment
  • Assist with Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security or VA benefits
  • Assist with refunds for cancelled travel plans

Our voluntary benefits team specializes in identifying customized program designs specifically for your full-time, part-time, and even gig populations. Most importantly, we work with your EPIC service team and are with you during implementation, ongoing plan administration, and annual re-enrollments.

We stand ready to assist should you require assistance with these or any other supplemental benefits which will benefit those most affected by this horrific disease. For more information, please reach out to your EPIC broker or consultant, or Cindy Santangelo.
