The terrifying situation in Ukraine has been on my mind and in the thoughts of our collective team. Our mission remains the same – to support our clients and their employees no matter where they are in the world, no matter the situation. In times of crisis, we look to the many services available through our team and our vendor partners to help people in their time of need.
Viewpoints from Matt Marmorek
We encourage all employers to closely watch the situation on the ground and monitor the location of any employees who are assigned to or working in the affected region. Proactively managing employees is the best course of action to ensure that they are aware of support systems in place.
Many employers have global employee assistance programs (EAPs) in place on a standalone basis or through their international/expatriate medical programs.
These programs provide important services and counseling for overseas employees. Most EAPs include mental health support, for employees and family members who are struggling during these challenging times. Several global EAP providers are establishing service support specific to this conflict in local languages with toll-free access numbers and WhatsApp functionality.
EAP providers, international medical insurers, travel accident insurers and evacuation providers are closely monitoring the situation.
They issue security alerts, updates, and many are regularly hosting webinar sessions to provide information in as close to real-time as possible. Access to this information can be vital to employees and their families. Employers are encouraged to connect with their vendor partners to ensure the latest updates are being received. Access to this information can be vital to employees and their families.
