Thomas E. O’Neil

Regional President, Northeast

Tom is responsible for the executive management and leadership of EPIC’s operations across the Northeast, including team building and recruiting, new strategic initiatives, acquisitions, business development, client satisfaction and retention, and growth.

Tom has been in the insurance business for more than 30 years and has an extensive background in executive leadership, strategic planning, all brokerage and agency operations, sales and marketing, program and affinity management, merger and acquisition sourcing and integration.

He began his career in 1979 in an underwriting and marketing program with Continental Insurance Company in Philadelphia. Following four years on the commercial insurance underwriting side, Tom moved into insurance sales with the brokerage firm he ultimately acquired in 1989. Tom formed a consulting firm in 1992, Acquisition Risk Management Services, that specialized in providing services to the emerging Private Equity industry and their acquisitions. He has been driven to “do the deal” ever since.

After selling both firms to USI in 1996, Tom spent the next nine years in positions of progressively more responsibility; as CEO of USI New York, CEO of USI’s North East Region and ultimately Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for USI Holdings, Inc. Tom was a key member of the management and leadership teams that took USI’s revenues from $50 million in 1996 to almost $500 million in 2005.

Immediately prior to joining EPIC, Tom was the President and CEO of privately-held SafeHarbor Risk Management – a Property & Casualty Insurance Brokerage and Employee Benefit Consulting firm with locations in New York and Boston, MA – which he founded in 2009.

Tom attended St. Leo University (formally St. Leo College) in Tampa Florida.

In the community, he supports both the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester as a Board member along with Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

Away from the office, Tom devotes his free time to the enjoyment of family and his love of golf, the Yankees and NY Giants, and fine wines.
