Melissa Demmon Joins the EPIC Law Firm Group as Director, Risk Management
EPIC is excited to announce that Melissa Demmon, Esq., has joined the firm as Director, Risk Management within our growing EPIC Law Firm Group.
In her new position with EPIC, Melissa will oversee risk management services, provide thought leadership, manage claims, advocate for clients, and ensure exceptional client service. She will be based in the New York area and will report directly to Rob Herchert, Managing Principal of the EPIC Law Firm Group.

Melissa joins EPIC with a distinguished career spanning over 20 years in the insurance industry. Previously, she served as Vice President, Claims Counsel for Professional Liability at Sompo International, a globally recognized provider of specialty property and casualty insurance. At Sompo, Melissa excelled in managing professional liability claim teams, resolving complex legal malpractice claims, and determining coverage applicability related to large, mid-size and small law firms. Prior to her tenure in insurance, she spent a decade in private practice, serving as coverage counsel and claims monitoring counsel to insurers, with a primary focus on professional liability.
Melissa is a member of the New York, New Jersey, and Missouri Bars, and is also admitted to the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey. She holds a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law and a B.A. from Columbia College, Columbia University. Melissa is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society, the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance, and she is an active member of the American Bar Association, serving on the Standing Committee on Lawyers’ Professional Liability.
